UNIVERSAL CURRENT
A large-scale mural at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, inspired by the Fort Lauderdale area, the ocean, the waves, the sky, the clouds, and the feeling of being connected to something larger than ourselves. Through flowing forms and color, the mural represents movement and rhythm, translating the physical experience of the ocean and sky into an abstract visual expression. The mural is located on the west-facing exterior wall of the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd. The wall is 840 feet wide by 65 feet tall and about 23,000 total square feet. The length of almost 3 football fields!!! The project took 40 days on the wall, including 5 nights to draw, approximately 800 hours of drawing and painting between me and my assistant Fabio Onrack, and an average of 10 hours each day. We used about 165 gallons of paint between 29 different colors.
